Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know About Consultations, Testing & Working Together
Welcome! Taking the first step toward health care can naturally bring up a few questions. We want you to feel completely informed, comfortable, and at ease before you even step through our doors or log on to your appointment.
Below, you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our clinic, consultation process, and practical health support.
Consultations, Payments & Appointments
Do I need a GP referral to see you?
No referral is necessary! You are welcome to book directly with us at any time. However, if your GP or medical specialist has recently run blood work or provided a medical diagnosis, we warmly welcome you to bring those reports along to your appointment so we can incorporate them into your care.
How does invoicing and payment work?
To keep appointment times focused entirely on your care, invoices are emailed to you prior to your consultation. You have a few simple options for payment:
Online Payment Link: Pay quickly and securely via the direct payment link included in your invoice email.
Direct EFT Transfer: Use the bank transfer (EFT) details provided at the bottom of your invoice.
In-Person Cash: If you prefer to pay in person at the time of your appointment, you are very welcome to bring cash.
Can I claim private health fund rebates?
Yes. As a degree-qualified Naturopath and Clinical Nutritionist registered with the Australian Natural Therapies Association (ANTA), consultations are recognized by most major Australian private health funds.
Because coverage varies depending on your specific health provider and level of extras cover, we recommend checking directly with your fund to confirm your rebate eligibility for Naturopathy or Nutritional Medicine.
What is the difference between an in-person and online consultation?
In-Person (Vitalia, Mount Crosby): You sit down face-to-face with Sophia in our serene, green co-wellness space at 11 Bindleys Road, Mount Crosby QLD.
Online / Telehealth (Worldwide): We connect via a secure Google Meet video link. You receive the exact same depth of care, case analysis, pathology ordering, and individualized plans from the comfort of your couch.
What is your appointment cancellation policy?
We understand that life, kids, and unexpected events happen! We kindly request at least 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. This allows us to offer the time slot to another family on our waiting list.
What to Expect in Clinic
Will I be put on a strict or restrictive diet?
Requesting a strict or unrealistic protocol has no place here. As a mum of four, Sophia has zero tolerance for rigid, overly complicated, or guilt-driven health rules!
Our goal is never to strip joy or variety away from your family's table. Instead, we focus on direct, easy supermarket swaps, nourishing additions, and practical steps that fit seamlessly into your real-world routine and mental bandwidth.
How many consultations will I need?
Because every body and health story is unique, there is no one-size-fits-all timeline:
Acute or simple concerns may only require an initial consultation and one follow-up.
Long-standing or complex health issues (such as perimenopause, autoimmune conditions, severe gut imbalances, or chronic skin flares) typically benefit from a series of follow-ups over 3 to 6 months to monitor progress, review pathology, and build lasting physiological resilience.
Pathology, Testing & Prescriptions
How do pathology and blood tests work?
During your consultation, we evaluate whether further investigation is needed:
Routine Bloods: We can compile a suggested blood test request list for you to take to your GP, or write private pathology referrals directly.
Functional & Allergy Testing: For specialised testing—such as Nutripath stool analysis, DUTCH hormone profiles, or IgG/IgA/IgE food sensitivity panels—we organise test kits to be posted directly to you. Blood draws are easily completed at your local QML Pathology or 4Cyte Pathology collection center.
Turnaround Time: Depending on the specific panel and laboratory involved, functional pathology results typically take between 10 days to 4 weeks to be returned and thoroughly analysed by our clinic.
How do I get my prescribed supplements or herbal remedies?
Practitioner-Grade Supplements: All custom practitioner-grade nutritional supplements are fulfilled securely online via your personal Vital.ly account and delivered straight to your doorstep.
Liquid Herbal Formulations: Prepared directly by Sophia in clinic or shipped out following your consultation.
Children, Families & Home Visits
How do children’s appointments work?
Children's sessions are intentionally calm, gentle, and unhurried (45 to 60 minutes). We explore your child's sleep, digestion, immunity, or food sensitivities in an age-appropriate, stress-free way. There is zero pressure on your little one to "behave perfectly" during the visit!
Do you offer home visits for newborns?
Yes! For local families in Mount Crosby and surrounding suburbs, Sophia offers newborn home visits during those tender early weeks so you don't have to worry about packing up a nappy bag or travelling with a new baby. (Call-out fees apply—please reach out via our Contact Page for suburb details).

What is the Thursday Community Herbal Clinic?
Held every Thursday in partnership with Vitalia in Mount Crosby, our Community Herbal Clinic is a walk-in service for short-term, acute concerns (like early cold symptoms, sleep glitches, or mild digestive upsets).
