Sophia Wulff ND

Naturopath and Clinical Nutritionist

BHSc (Nat), BHSc (Nut), Grad. Cert in Academic Practice, ANTA

I am a Bachelor degree qualified Naturopath and Clinical Nutritionist with a broad breadth of clinical experience working in general practice as well as some specific focus areas including:

  • Infant and child health

  • Natural fertility support

  • Pregnancy and postpartum support

  • Post-natal fatigue and exhaustion

  • Diagnosed or suspected food intolerances

  • Digestive health

  • Immune system support

  • Whole-body vitality and wellbeing including energy optimisation, mood support and body composition support

  • Depression, anxiety and emotional dysregulation

In the consultation process, I draw on relevant pathology testing, a thorough case-taking approach, an in-depth health history as well as relevant clinical examination techniques in order to glean insight and a clear picture of your current state of health. With over a decade of clinical experience, I am able to draw on a myriad of evidence-informed treatment options including nutritional supplementation, herbal medicines, as well as prescriptive dietary and lifestyle recommendations.

Within each consultation, I aim to supports you in not only rediscovering your physical health but also fostering emotional and mental wellbeing. As these aspects are so intertwined I believe it to be imperative that your physical, mental and emotional health is taken into consideration when supporting your journey from imbalance or ‘dis-ease’ returning to your natural state of health and vitality. I have discovered, through my own own health journey, that being well is not merely the absence of disease but, in fact, the joy of thriving and feeling a deep sense of peace and wellbeing in day-to-day life.

Alongside my clinical practice, I have worked as a university lecturer within the Bachelor of Health Science working extensively in clinical supervision of both clinical nutrition and herbal medicine students. My post-graduate studies in Academic Practice have led me to write curriculum in key areas such as stress and adrenal health, infant and child nutrition, fertility and sports medicine.

Being a mother to four children has provided me with a lived experience that has gifted me the ability of creativity and innovation for providing practical, doable recommendations and treatment plans that take into account the realities and practicalities of my clients’ lives and the ‘humanness’ of all of our journeys.

I am a member of the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA), and I maintain continuing professional development by attending regular seminars and conferences each year. Private Health Rebates may be applicable.

My Story

I began my journey to becoming a Natural Therapies Practitioner by being unhealthy. I was working for a busy legal company & never felt quite right within myself. I struggled to manage chronic disease and discovered that the cause of my ill health was that I simply hadn’t been educated in how to be healthy! This led me to Naturopathy & Nutrition studies at the Australian College of Natural Medicine. It was here that I discovered how to feel healthy myself, but also how to help others reach their health goals.

Following my graduation with a Bachelor of Health Science, I travelled overseas to use my newfound skills and research African & Indian traditional medicines. Since my return to Australia, I have been consulting in private practice and have come to realise the importance of treating patients holistically, incorporating the body, mind & spirit. This discovery led me to undertake further studies as a Pilates and Yoga instructor, so I could provide clients with personalised classes & holistic exercise plans to complement their health programmes.

As well as teaching Yoga & Pilates, I then began to lecture in Sports Nutrition for FIAFitnation, teach & supervise clinical practice at the Endeavour College of Natural Health & Torrens University as well as write courses in Infant and Children’s Nutrition and Fertility while completing my postgraduate studies in Higher Education. I delved further into Body-Mind Medicine and Meditation at the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation to round out my studies.

Having children myself added another practical layer to my research and developed my understanding of health beyond what just the science tells us. It has gifted me an ability to adapt and modify to suit the most fussy of children, and provided insight into the challenge of juggling meal planning in the busy-ness of life first hand!

I love working with children and so alongside my clinical practice and workshops, I also assist in coaching Brazilian Jujitsu to children at Atos Jujitsu Brisbane.

Although I enjoy working with all areas of health some of the areas I am particularly passionate about include:

  • Natural Fertility

  • Pregnancy

  • Infant & Children Health & Nutrition: since enjoying the journey to motherhood myself & writing courses in fertility and infant nutrition I have seen & experienced the amazing results that can be achieved using

  • Naturopathic & Nutritional medicine.

  • Diagnosed or suspected food intolerances & allergies e.g. gluten. Many people are diagnosed with food intolerances and feel quite lost in what to eat & how to eat. Nutritional support can provide assistance with avoiding allergenic foods & replacing them with nutritious alternatives.

  • Skin health

  • Emotional imbalance, depression, anxiety

  • Sports Nutrition
